Bheja mdoda

Hlubelihle makes his latest move with Bheja Mdoda, a Maskandi EP featuring Shenge Wasehlalankosi. The release brings the two artists together for a project driven by storytelling, traditional sounds and experiences that connect with everyday life.

Rather than building everything around one idea, Bheja Mdoda gives Hlubelihle space to address different situations through song. The lyrics carry much of the project’s character, moving through observations, personal encounters and messages that listeners can interpret from their own perspectives.

Shenge Wasehlalankosi’s involvement adds another layer to the EP, creating moments where contrasting voices and approaches help shape the music. Guitar patterns and steady Maskandi rhythms provide the foundation, keeping the project rooted in the sound its audience knows.

For Hlubelihle, Bheja Mdoda is another opportunity to tell his stories while sharing the spotlight with a fellow Maskandi artist. The result is a focused EP that gives listeners several moments to unpack without losing sight of the genre’s emphasis on words, musicianship and lived experience.
